Diesel particulates are formed when fuel is combusted in a diesel engine. When using a regular partial-flow or wall-flow filter, these particulates are captured and catalysed when exhaust temperatures are adequate.
This can cause issues on some light-duty cycle vehicles, such as refuse trucks, where engine exhaust temperatures do not get high enough to cause a regeneration to happen naturally.
So, how can this problem be irradicated?
The KleenAir Systems FBC system is ideal for these situations.
The FBC system consists of a simple non-catalysing particle filter, a separate catalysing additive and an electronic control unit.
The fuel-bourne catalyst is stored in a separate supply vessel. During the normal vehicle running cycle, additive is automatically dosed in to the diesel fuel prior to entering the engine. This additive lowers the combustion temperature of the collected soot in the exhaust filter to allow a regeneration to occur at a lower temperature.
- Cut particulate output
- Suitable for light-duty applications
- Works on all diesel engines
- More complete regeneration
